Rama Bridge
Adam's Bridge, also known as Rama's Bridge or Rama Setu, is a series of limestone shoals located between Pamban Island off the southeast coast of Tamil Nadu, India, and Mannar Island off the northwest coast of Sri Lanka. According to the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, a bridge was built by the god Rama to reach the island of Lanka and rescue his wife, Sita, from Ravana. The feature measures 48 km long and separates the Gulf of Mannar from the Palk Strait. It is believed that Adam's Bridge was once a land connection between India and Sri Lanka. Captured here by the EarthScanner satellites at 50cm resolution, 150km swath in 2020.
Venice, Italy
Comprising 126 islands separated by open water and canals connected by 472 bridges, Venice was the world's first international financial center that originated in the 9th century and peaked in the 14th century, making it a prosperous city for a large part of its history. In 1987, the lagoon and the historic parts of the city within the lagoon were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, Venice remains a popular tourist destination and a major cultural center. In the 21st century, it has been ranked as the most beautiful city in the world several times. The GF-2 satellite captured this stunning image at 80cm resolution.
